Jackass Forever (2022) Review

Jackass Forever (2022)

Jackass Forever once again follows the zany and death defying exploits of the Jackass crew, aided by a new crop of thrill seekers looking to carry on the legacy of the originals.

20 years after Jackass: The Movie first hit screens, Jackass has finally returned, and all I can say is, damn it feels good to have these guys back! I’ll be honest, I never thought we’d see the Jackass crew back again, now extending up into their 40s and 50s, but boy do they sure bring the energy from start to finish. For obvious reasons, much of the stunts were toned down a notch for Forever, but what we do get is still as bonkers as always, with the explosive finale, most any skit with Ehren, and Knoxville’s return to the ring with the bull, sticking out as heavy favorites here on my first watch.

Unsurprisingly, the newbies carry much of the load going into the fourth entry, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, with there being no greater right of passage into such a legendary series as being put through hell by the guys who started it all. The absence of mainstays Ryan Dunn and Bam Margera are certainly felt however, a sorrowful reminder of those we lost and those who’ve been affected by the toll movies like these will undoubtedly leave (though Margera does appear for one brief stunt toward the end).

We get a death defying cast, starring Preston Lacy, Rachel Wolfson, Jason “Wee Man” Acuña, Zach Holmes, Jasper Dolphin, Sean “Poopies” McInerey, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Ehren McGhehey, Steve-O, and Johnny Knoxville. It was wonderful seeing Knoxville, Pontius, and Steve-O together again (as well as the rest), maintaining all of the dangerous energy that put them on the map in the first place, while also balancing the added presence of new cast members like Poopies and Holmes quite well, even if nothing will ever top the original groups tight chemistry.

Jackass Forever, directed by Jeff Tremaine, is a long awaited return the series that doesn’t disappoint a bit, keeping the spirit alive and well and throwing as much nudity, profanity, and bone breaking action as ever, in what is sure to be a favorite for fans of the series.
